Workshops

  1. Subject: DiSC Assessment
    Number of Members Needed for Workshop: Around 30
    Recommendation: Highly recommend this event to see what your leadership style is as well as how to interact with others who have different leadership styles.

  2. Subject: CV and Interview Workshops
    Number of Members Needed for Workshop: At least 4 for each event.
    Other Supplies: Food, drinks, interviewers (ideally from different areas of pharmacy - community, hospital, managed care, industry, etc).
    Recommendation: The CV Workshop provides tools to help students make their CV more professional.  The Interview Workshop allows students to have exposure to interview questions in preparation for internship/residency program interviews.

  3. Subject: CLASS (Comprehensive Leadership Advancement Skills Seminar)
    Number of Members Needed for Workshop: Minimum 20
    Other Supplies: Food, drinks, speakers, audio-visual equipment (helpful but not requried)
    Recommendation: PLS alumni and honorary members were asked to speak on topics such as Pharmacy and Political Advocacy, Public Speaking and Networking, Leadership Styles, Innovative Pharmacy Practice Models, and Interacting with the Media.  This is a required event for our first year students to develop their leadership skills.  Students are allowed to pick which sessions to attend as there were three separate "breakout" sessions offering 3 choices during each.

  4. Subject: Etiquette Dinner
    Number of Members Needed: Variable - recommend knowing in advance to calculate per person expenses and speaker fees.
    Other Supplies: dinner location, speaker, possible audio-visual equipment if needed.
    Recommendation: This is a developmental activity that can benefit all students, regardless of PLS membership.

  5. Subject: Roberts Rules of Order
    Speaker: Pam Whitmire
    Number of Members Needed: no limit or set requirement
    Recommendation: This could benefit students, regardless of PLS membership, before attending local or national meetings such as APhA-ASP where pharmacy policy is discussed.
